SUGAR PASTE FLOWERS
What are sugar paste flowers?
Many flowers are made of butter cream. This limits the flowers to simple shapes and forms, and a short life. Sugar paste is a special blend of sugar, a gum blend, and water. It maintains a firm consistency that allows shaping and modeling into a variety of shapes. It is able to take and hold textures for outstanding detail. Because it contains no fat (like butter cream), sugar paste will last indefinitely when dried. It is also edible!
Why sugar paste?
Creating flowers from sugar paste has many advantages:
create intricate flowers not available with butter cream
thin petals and leaves with extremely fine detail
allows unique blending, or marbelizing of colors
is paintable for rich, natural look or custom colors
recognized world-wide as THE premium material
Why are sugar paste flowers more expensive?
Instead of being squeezed out of a tube like butter cream, sugar paste flowers require much extra work:
material must be blended and rolled thin
each petal is hand cut, hand formed, embossed, and hand painted
each leaf is hand cut, hand formed, embossed, and hand painted
each flower is made petal by petal, and leaf by leaf
groups of flowers are hand wired together to make fabulous bouquets
